Fuhua Group and Clariant Switzerland build a joint R&D platform

On 30 March2023, the signing ceremony of the joint R&D and technology cooperationagreement between Fuhua Tongda Chemical and Clariant Switzerland and theunveiling ceremony of the joint R&D platform were held in Leshan, Sichuan Province.

It is reportedthat the cooperation R&D agreement signed between Fuhua Chemical andClariant is mainly to carry out R&D cooperation on high-endphosphorus-based flame retardants using methyl phosphonium dichloride, a keyintermediate in Fuhua Chemical's glufosinate-ammonium production. Thetechnology is at a world-leading level. The products are mainly used for flameretardant in 5G base stations, new energy vehicles, battery materials andaerospace, etc., and have good market prospects.

At the sametime, the two sides will use the joint R&D platform as a new cooperationmechanism, take the cooperation and development of phosphorus-based flameretardants as a starting point, expand to other fields, jointly formulateR&D plans, share R&D results, and achieve all-round deep strategiccooperation in terms of technology, resources, markets, talents andintellectual property rights.

Jochen Ahrens,Global Vice President of Clariant, said that through the joint efforts of bothcompanies, great results have been achieved through Fuhua Tongda's competencein the early development of high-end phosphorus flame retardants, as well asClariant's global application know-how and established business network in thefield of high-end flame retardants. Both parties will work more closelytogether on specific applications of advanced flame retardants. It is hopedthat the first developed products will be available soon in the near future tomeet the growing demands of the electric vehicle and electronics markets.
