China and Pakistan to establish online trade data exchange platform

Pakistani customs officials said in May 2017 that the Pakistan Customs had completed all the preparatory work of the electronic data exchange (EDE) and the platform would be officially launched at the end of this month, which would then cooperate with the China Customs to crack down on export underinvoicing, tax evasion and so on.


Changlong Agrochemicals got USD5.53 million of capital increase

On 24 May, 2017, Beijing Nutrichem Laboratory Co., Ltd. (Nutrichem) issued a notice that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shandong Fuer Co., Ltd. (Shandong Fuer), was going to raise capital to the holding subsidiary company Jiangsu Changlong Agrochemicals Co., Ltd. (Changlong Agrochemicals). After the capital increase, registered capital of Changlong Agrochemicals increased from USD37.6 million to USD43.1 million.


Xingbai Pharmaceutical launches abamectin B2 targeted at soil nematodes

In April 2017, Hebei Xingbai Pharmaceutical Group (Xingbai Pharmaceutical, parent company to Shijiazhuang Xingbai Biological Engineering Co., Ltd.) held a seminar about the abamectin B2 strategic development in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. “The new product abamectin B2 now has been tested for many crops, and has been proven to have excellent efficacy in the prevention and control of nematodes,” stated the company, “We will strive for the world’s nematode market (= USD2.6 billion market share).”


NATESC: harm by rice diseases and pests in 2017 lighter than last year

On 1 June, 2017, the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center (NATESC) updated the newest dynamics of rice diseases and pests in China. Accordingly, due to the less precipitation recently, the immigration of rice planthoppers and rice leaf rollers is much less and the harm by rice sheath blight and rice blast is lighter over the same period last year. By late May 2017, the accumulative occurrence area of rice diseases and pests in China had reached 3.8 million ha, down by 24.2% year on year.


MOA solicits opinions on limitation and prohibition of 5 pesticides

On 12 May, 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China (MOA) solicited opinions from its affiliated departments, a move intended to limit and prohibit 5 pesticides including endosulfan, methyl bromide, acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate.


ICAMA: -22.9% YoY in pesticides exports in 2016

On 10 May, 2017, the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) made a reporting namely the Pesticide Registration and Import & Export Analysis at the 4th Analysis Meeting of Economic Operation in Pesticide Industry, a move to show the exports of pesticides from China in 2016.

²  In 2016, the export of China’s pesticides was 1.37 million tonnes, at a value of USD5.6 billion, down 9.1% and 22.9% respectively.

²  In 2016, the import of China’s pesticides was 39,100 tonnes, at a value of USD428 million, down 32.1% and 36.9% respectively.

Noposion takes control of some distributors in succession

Since 2017, Shenzhen Noposion Agrochemicals Co., Ltd. (Noposion) and its subsidiary Shenzhen Tian Tian Quan Agricultural Service Co., Ltd. have consecutively taken control of five premium agrochemical distributors, covering crop circles such as rice and potato in Ningxia Autonomous Region, Shandong Province, Hainan Province and other places.


Jiangsu Yangnong: subsidiary start a new project with 15,475 t/a pesticide

On 14 April, 2017, Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Yangnong) issued a notice that its holding subsidiary-Jiangsu Youjia Plant Protection Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Youjia) would plan to invest in a number of major projects, including 11,475 t/a of pesticides, 1,000 t/a of herbicide, 3,000 t/a of fungicide, 2,500 tons / year of chloroacetophenone and 37,384 t/a of related by-products.


ChemChina’s acquisition of Syngenta to be settled

On 5 May, 2017, China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina) and Switzerland based Syngenta jointly announced the approval by the latter’s shareholders through voting about the acquisition conducted by the former at USD43 billion. “ChemChina has reduced the stake to be acquired, from 100% to 80%+,” reported a domestic source, “Whether the sum (= USD43 billion) has been decreased or not remains to be seen. ”
